VISION QUESTS

Northern Drum vision quests facilitate a time of solitude where deep, spiritual
guidance may be sought. During three days and nights of fasting and praying, the mind moves into a new place of stillness and we are able to silence the chattering of ego, allowing new space for the Mystery to come into our lives.

Quests can open up immense possibilities for us and help to heal deep wounds of separation and isolation; they can reveal our life’s purpose, restoring our passion and appreciation for life.

During the vision quest, we can make the choice to consciously move from one life phase to another. The seeker may ask to be gifted with new meaning and
direction – this can bring about major life transitions following, for example, a death, a life threatening illness or a divorce.

Held in a place of natural beauty, Northern Drum’s vision quests follow a
traditional, three step formula: separation from the known world, a period of isolation and, finally, the return to everyday life. During this time, we enter a solitary space of prayer and meditation, stillness and focus, weaving between being and becoming and opening ourselves to Spirit and Mother Earth.

Optional burial ceremonies are also offered on the night before entering the
vision quest. These nights, spent in the dark womb of Mother Earth, are times of
sacred healing, where the seeker prays for the death of old, unhealthy ways of being and asks the earth mother to absorb and transform limiting patterns and beliefs. At sunrise, we emerge from the ‘grave’ reborn, in a cleansed state, ready to receive wisdom and new life teachings during the vision quest.

Trained guardians will be on hand throughout the quest; they will act as guides through the preparation time and hold the seeker, energetically, throughout their ceremony. The guardians will create a base camp and use prayer and song to send support. After the quest, they will support the beginning of the integration period.
