Our new three-year training begins in October 2012.
We will explore in great depth the comprehensive body of shamanic teachings that Chris Luttichau has gathered and studied over the course of more than 30 years.
Shamanism is as diverse as it is old, and we will journey together into its many facets. This training offers the opportunity for a deep understanding of the entirety of the shaman’s world. Embarking on this training will lead you onto a healing path that weaves together four threads based around core shamanic principles.
Self-healing: The first thread is one of self-healing. You will learn about healing yourself according to the old earth-based ways. Shamans were traditionally wounded healers; only by first healing themselves were they then granted the spirit power to heal others. You will learn the ancient skills needed to heal your past, so that you have the clarity to become ‘the hollow bone’, a clear, empty vessel for the spirits who heal. You will learn about finding your own power, aligning yourself with your destiny, knowing who you are and your place in creation. You will also work to raise your consciousness and the way you use your energy so that you don’t project any unhealed issues onto others. Alongside these personal transformation skills we will be working with traditional teachings on how to live in a balanced, respectful way in community.
Healing Others: The second thread of our journey together will be an exploration of the core shamanic methods of bringing healing to others. We will cover a wide spectrum of teachings in detail, including: spirit contact, soul retrieval, shamanic extraction, spiritual purification of buildings and other spaces, protection, blessing ceremonies, divination, ancestral work, the cycles of life and death, psycho pomp work, and healing of the energy body.
Living, Dreaming and Relating: The third thread consists of a series of native meditations as well shamanic dreaming, including lucid dreaming and out of body journeys. You will learn native ways of being in relationship and society: the way of the council, peace- making and initiation, song and dance and ceremonial work.
Nature And Spirit: The fourth thread is learning to experience and relate to nature with a native mind and soul. This will include teachings about animals, trees, plants, plant spirits, shamanic walking and a series of three different kinds of visions quests.
The three-year programme is suitable for beginners as well as those who are experienced in shamanic work. The aim is to provide you with a strong, solid and safe understanding and practice of shamanism, whether your focus is to become a healer or to use your knowledge and skills to improve the quality of your own life. You will be guided according to your needs and your own individual path.
There will be four workshops each year, of which three will be held from a Thursday evening to a Sunday afternoon, and one will be a 10-day camp. The training will be held at Earth Spirit Centre near Glastonbury.
