KAYAKING AND HIKING IN FINLAND

This is a ten day expedition in south-eastern Finland. The area is rich in wildlife, including bears, wolves, lynx, osprey and eagles.

The trip will be a combination of kayaking and hiking. We will paddle to a base camp from where we can embark on a two day hiking trip without the need for heavy backpacks.

Beginner kayakers are welcome to take part, and the first two days will be spent at camp, learning the basic kayaking techniques needed for the expedition.

You don’t need to be an athlete to participate, but the conditions will require you to be physically fit.

The expedition will be led by Chris Luttichau and Petri Leinonen.

Petri Leinonen is a professional wilderness guide and paddling instructor and a guide with the British and Finnish Canoe Unions. He will teach wilderness survival skills, provide tasty wilderness cooking, and for those who are interested he will make assessments and award kayaking certificates at the end of the trip.

Chris Luttichau is an experienced wilderness kayaker, hiker and group leader, and has studied directly with native people for more than 20 years, practising many of their spiritual teachings. He will provide meditation techniques used for walking and kayaking, and offer native teachings on being in nature, both on a physical and spiritual level.

July 24 – August 2, 2013.
