Introducing ancient Healing Ways and earth-based Spirituality

Our Vision

Northern Drum offers a complete body of teachings covering all areas of life from meditations, healing, spirit contact, self-development and empowerment, to council, nature awareness, and dreaming. These are time-tested teachings shared by elders, shamans and medicine people who work for the awakening of the people. They carry instructions that when following this path, people can live in balance and harmony with the self and all of life. These teachings have the power and potential to make the great circle of life whole again.

In our workshops and training groups, Northern Drum is committed to helping each participant in the following ten stages of empowerment and raised awareness. Pointing out the way, these are like arrows that fly straight from the bow of the wisdom of the Old Ones towards self-realization, singing their song of awakening and remembrance in celebration of life.

With this aim we hold the vision of a future for humanity that is in balance with the Earth and all of creation based on the way of the heart and respect for all life.

Ten Stages of Empowerment

To awaken in the Sacred Dream Of Life.

To find your own vision, heal the past, and fulfill your potential.

To be in life with an open heart, experiencing from the place of a re-awakened, native soul.

To live in balance with yourself, with others and with all of creation as one part of the great Web Of Life, embodying the Way Of Peace, honouring the Great Spirit in everything that is.

To bring together two worlds: native people’s knowledge of living in harmony with the earth, soul and spirit, and our growing knowledge of science, technology and global community.

To honour Mother Earth, seeing all of life as sacred, and therefore to live in a way which does not merely continue the habits that have led us out of balance, but seeks to address and change them.

To make the great Circle Of Life whole again, and to learn to sit in council, truly listening, speaking and making decisions from a place of respect.

To help raise the consciousness of human beings at this important time in history, and to seek guidance from the place of Spirit.

To honour the feminine and the masculine as they express themselves in the sacred dance of life.

To honour and protect all children, and to guide young people through rites of passage to find their own path in life.

The Founder

Chris Luttichau is the author of ‘Animal Spirit Guides: Discover your power animal and the shamanic path’. He trained intensively with native elders and shamans, mainly in North America, for more than 20 years, and is the keeper of an authentic and comprehensive body of teachings that he now shares in workshops and ongoing one-year and three-year training groups.

The teachings cover a broad range of topics from healing and dreaming to the way of the Council and self-development. In 1998 Chris founded Northern Drum Shamanic Centre, the home of all our courses and workshops.

Northern Drum supports native people by giving donations. We also run a bursary system enabling people to attend workshops and trainings who could not afford to come otherwise. Donations towards this fund, or for the native people we support, are always very gratefully received.

Friends,

A new exciting year is ahead of us, a year that has long been the focus of hope and dreams for native people in the Americas, and in the Western world has been the focus of much speculations and drama. The point here is to have no fear. Dramatizing and promoting fear have never been great acts of healing.

2012 is a time for bringing forward the best and highest qualities in ourselves, such as hope, love, joy and compassion.

It is my feeling that a lot of young people are getting ready to step forward and stand tall, side by side, speaking about what’s needed at this time of transition on Mother Earth, and to act on it.

The changes have begun, and they are happening very fast. New technologies are appearing quickly, altering people’s lives, new ideas are taking hold in a rapidly changing world.

Shamanism as a spiritual path has a lot to offer, just as it always has, but today it’s vital that we listen to the ancient wisdom. Balance, harmony, beauty and respect are core qualities in shamanism, and the time has come to bring them back into play. They are needed in all areas of existence, from how conflict resolution amongst people and nations are solved, to sustainable and clean energy sources.

If you feel it’s time to step forward on both a personal and global level Northern Drum offers teachings and trainings that can empower, guide and awaken. The new Three Year Training begins in October, and a new workshop, The Art Of Living, commences in March (and in November In Denmark).

As the Hopi of Arizona have said about the times we live in now: The time of the lone wolf is over.

Good wishes,

Chris

Northern Drum – Drumming Circles

Drum circles are a time to practice together the teachings from workshops and longer tainings. They can include meditations, journeying and drumming, and time is taken for sharing and integration. Drum circles are held in a spirit of respect and honoring, allowing us to embody our wholeness more fully, and to experience the sacredness of life and our place within it.
